This was me holding an Owl at the Middletown Renaissance Faire, in Bucks County PA, benefiting the Middletown Library .. Yes I went to another Renaissance Fair my daughter had the dress and need to wear it more than once. Plus it was $5 per person to get in. So I made a $10 donation to the Baywing Falconry Program and got to hold an owl. I will try most things once.
He looked heavy but only weight 4lb. Then the lady told me he was only 6 months old..then I got a little nervous.. yea all I could picture was this young owl going crazy on my face..
She also told me not to stare at him so when ever he looked at me I looked away… My son captured my my face.
He was so cool looking an big how could I not hold him. His name was Owlzander. I held him for about 10 minutes and 4 lb gets heavy.. he was really big, he has hallow bones.. in proportion I am almost 6 feet tall. Apparently the females are larger.
My daughter held a falcon..yea she held a bird 1st.All and All I was completely safe and I am so glad I did it.
Have you every held a large predatory bird?
Oh how awesome! I envision it being like “Don’t stare at the owl!” after which, you can do NOTHING but stare at the owl, lol. BRAVE and cool 🙂
That is amazing! What a fantastic experience!

Your daughter looks so beautiful! And this totally makes up my mind…I am going this year!

That owl is GORGEOUS and kinda scary! I can’t believe it only weighted 4 lbs. Seems like a super fun day!
