Dyson Light Ball Review

I received a Dyson Light-ball available at Walmart for a product review. During the past week, I have fallen in love with my Dyson, I have always wanted one and it did not disappoint. The Dyson Light ball is amazing and the suction they describe in the advertising is very realistic, You can feel it lifting the rug as it cleans. I was embarrassed that my rugs were so dirty, since I just used my old vacuuming last week. The Dyson cleaned so deep down it defiantly got to the micro dirt that has been in my rugs for years. Check out how much dirt was collected at the bottom of my post.

The wobble function of the ball takes a few minutes to use and it does suck so strong you have to push to start it moving once going it flows easily.

The suction is amazing I filled a canister just vacuum one 8’x10″ wool rug. see the picture.

The wand is very handy I was able to clean very easy behind the tv an area that does not get cleaned often. It did take a minute to figure how the wand fits back into the vacuum. I like how all the attachments fit on the vacuum. The size is lighter and more compact then my other vacuum, the height of the handle is nice for my tall frame of 5’9, my son like the height at his 6’2″ frame and my 5′ daughter also used it with ease.

I have to say my 15 year son use it and he said it made his rug “fluffy”m because it cleaned all the rug fibers so they stood up.

How is customer support: Dyson Support was helpful and I spoke to a real person quickly. I also registered my product with ease.

I have to share how much dirt came out of my carpets. The Dyson picked up all the dirt my old vacuum has been missing. I already feel like my house is already cleaner.

The dyson is amazing and made my house truly feel clean.

Preteen Dresses: Age Appropriate Fashions from Kate Mack

We recently received a sample of this wonderful Kate Mack dress to review. I am a huge fan of Kate Mack/Biscotti clothing. My daughter has been wearing their clothes since she was a baby. I loved the originally ballerina bathing suit that she we purchased over 9 years ago, she was the hit of the local pool, before every big box store made a version of the bathing suit the original version was a Biscotti. Isn’t she cute at 3? I love the new line of Biscotti Ballerina swimsuits it makes me wish my daughter was younger, how time flys?

Now that my daughter is a PreTeen turning 11 this week, it is getting harder to find dresses that are age appropriate for her made of quality material. (I am not a fan of thin poly knit dresses). My daughter is also tall for her age, between issues with size and style it is difficult to located a dress for her that is not too revealing.

I was very excited to receive this fun Kate Mack Dress my daughter is a size 16. She also loves the fun shape of this dress. It’s handkerchief hem and bold black & white with a splash of color is perfect for a girl her age. The fabric is a stretch knit that is super comfortable to wear. She can look dressy and casual all spring/summer.

The dress is trimmed hot pink binding around the neck and armholes. With a T back for a sporty look this is perfect so the girls don’t to have to fight with straps. Also, if the child get a sun burn while wearing a competitive swimsuit this dress won’t hurt the burn.. (this is an issue that I am very familiar with). The fabric is a mid-weight comb cotton spandex, which means it is super soft and wonderful to wear.

The flowers are also knit spandex as well..so, no fraying of the flowers during washing. Kate Mack and Biscotti knows quality sewing and after my many years working in apparel, I can tell you when something is well made. This dress is worth it’s boutique price tag.

Dark Rising Monica McGurk Book Review

Dark Rising Monica McGurk Book Review : A few years ago I did a book review of Dark Hope, which was the 1st installment of the Archangels Prophecies. Recently, the author Monica McGurk asked me if I would like to do a sponsored review of the next book in the series: Dark Rising. I jumped at the chance, because I could not wait to hear what how Hope Carmichael the main character’s life had progressed after her last journey, after finding out she was key to human salvation.
The 1st book covered Hopes new life and new friendship with dark stranger Michael. It explores Hope’s mark that she received on the back of her neck as a child and what does it mean? The 1st book also tells the story of Hopes quest to protect those girls thrown in to human trafficking, which takes Hope and Michael to Las Vegas to save girls caught in a ring of trafficking despair. The 1st book is setting up the story of Hope’s destine how it effects mankind. Check out my full review here

Dark Rising Monica McGurk Book Review

The 2nd book the story is just as wonderful detailed Hopes tale. Hope’s adventure with the Archangel Michael, her protector/ destroyer continues as they travel over Europe. McGurk continues the story with Hope traveling with the 3 archangels in their human form to Turkey looking for artifacts to aid them on their quest to open the gate. They set up in an abandon house, the tension between the Michael and Hope continues. Hope is determined to help and recover from her past injuries. She takes chances which make the angels uneasy and Michael angry. Slowly they recover clues what take them to France, then to Ireland always leery that the fallen angels are lurking ready to claim Hope for their own.
The book also covers how Hope’s Family is coping at home while searching for clues of Hopes whereabouts. Her parents learn What her neck mark means. He parents grapple with the possibility that Hope was meant for something large then herself but true greatness. The reader understands her parents longing to see their teenage daughter again, if she is alive. I love the duality of showing the other side of the heroine’s world what is fallout at home. Many young adult books avoid the plight of the parents. I love that the parents are not an after thought in McGurks writing helping to develop the plot.
As the story builds it develops into a searching and torment for the main characters. My they find out who is the savior and who is he saving. The finally chapters are riveting the love and anguish that Michael and Hope are felt by the reader. Monica McGurk twist and winds the reader up with the details of the location and stories of the Prophecy . It was a great read.

Dark Rising Monica McGurk Book Review

I have always loved this genera of Young Fiction, supernatural and dark love. This is the second book in the series, but unlike most 2nd books in a trilogy it is not a filler/middle book lacking or leaving too many questions open. McGurk answers questions and gives you closure on areas of the plot. This book also leaves you wanting more of the characters and anticipating the next book. It is pleasing that McGurk treats the reader as smart and does not think that love is simple and doe eyed. Love it is messy and complicated, sometimes bigger then oneself. If you are a lover of books that capture forbidden love, then the Archangels Prophecies series is for you. Check it out here:

Verizon Gizmo Gadget Review and Video Review

Verizon Gizmo Gadget Review : I was recently at a Verizon event. During event they provided me a Gizmo Gadget for review. This week it has been fun getting to know how to use the Gizmo Gadget Watch Phone. The Gizmo is geared for kids who are not ready for a smart phone but still need to communicate with Parents, Caregivers, and Friends. The control of the phone is in the Caregiver’s (parents) hands, everything has to be set up in the Gizmo App downloaded from the iTunes or Goggle Play store. It also allows the parents to have access to child’s whereabouts and activity levels. I think of Gizmo Gadget as closed system determined by the Caregiver’s safety choices when setting up the phone/watch.

The Gizmo Gadget is the latest product offering to the Gizmo Line of kids phone watches. The pre-existing Gizmo Pal is geared toward a younger child because has less features. The Gizmo Gadget is for a older child preteen. The Gizmo line was created by LG for Verizon.

The purpose of the Gizmo Gadget is a Communication device: phone, predetermined text to caregiver, voice mails (send/receiving), a gps tracker, activity tracker, and to do list. The gizmo gadget does offer the ability to track jumping jacks, steps taken, compass, different watch faces, and some emoji’s to caregivers. Reporting status of child to caregivers. The watch can also be placed Quite Mode settings (up to 10 different times) by a caregiver can shut down at bedtime, school time. The Gizmo Gadget really does not have games.

Gizmo Gadget Review

Here is the break down of the Gizmo Gadget’s features we have found:

Gizmo Gadget Contacts Features:

The Gizmo Gadget watch/phone only has ablity to add 14 contact (3 caregivers and 11 others)
All contacts are entered by caregiver the child does not have the ablity to set up contacts.
The Gizmo Gadget itself identifies contacts by title (Mom,Dad, Aunt,Friend, Neighbor) not by name of contact for security reasons.
The Gizmo Gadget does not take phone calls from unknown numbers (meaning if the number is not in “contacts” it can’t be answer by child)

Gizmo Gadget Phone:

Phone calls can only be made to people on contact list
Phone messages can be left for anyone on contact list
The Gizmo has no way for the child to call someone not on the contact list (no keypad)
It rings they can pick it up or you can set the phone “Auto Answer” to pick up after automatic after 10 rings.
if you have 2 gizmos and they can call each other as long as they are set up as a contacts on each others phone (because both gizmos have phone numbers).

Gizmo Gadget Text Features:

The Gizmo comes with many preset/predetermined texted – the caregivers have the ablity to add a more texts
Predetermined texts only can be sent to caregivers (aka mom,dad,one other)
The Texts are set via the Gizmo App in caregivers phone not caregivers normal texting app (you do get a notification from app that a text was received from child)
No Texts outside of caregivers receiving or sending
Caregivers can write anything in a text to child characters are limited 30 characters- so longer texts are broken up
Child can leave a voice/record text message for the caregivers

They cant get on the web with the Gizmo Gadget because it is only a phone partial texting device.

No need to worry about picture or images being shared
Your child can’t take them since there is none

Gizmo Gadget GPS Tracking:

The Gizmo Gadget app a GPS tracker of you child, from the app on the parents phone you can see where the Gizmo is at all times
The Gizmo App on caregiver’s phone (GPS)will also via google maps be able to tell you what route to take get to child
The Gizmos has a compass feature on the child’s gizmo phone (no maps on kids phone)

Gizmo Gadget Activity tracking:

Step counter tracker
Jump-jack counter
Gizmo App reports to caregiver every night activity for the day how many steps they took over the day

Other Gizmo Gadget Features:

The phone does not state your child’s name on the device (this is for safety reasons)
Ability to set up a Quite Mode (up to 10 different time periods) for example when the child is in school, bedtime, homework, church time, activity time) The device will not make a sound (no ring or funny sounds) but the call will show up on the screen
Ability to turn off the Gizmo Gadget from the caregiver’s Gizmo App on phone.
Ability to track battery life of Gizmo Gadget from caregiver’s Gizmo app (if you had a kid with a dead phone you know this is important) According to Verizon it last 9 days
The app tells you everything your child does on the phone (from location to changing ring tone and more)

Gizmo Gadget Fun stuff:

Kids can use moving emojis when send messages to caregivers
Kids can play with different voices when recording voice message to text to caregivers
Funny sound maker
It has a compass
The watch screen / ring tone can be changed by child from gizmo watch phone (7 to choose from one of the faces is Analog) (other options are princess, tron, digital more)
ToDo list great for reminding kids of tasks (set up in caregivers Gizmo App)
The Gadget is offered in 2 colors Red and Blue you can purchase another band to swap out the watch they have other colors (teal, pink, red,blue)
Child can easily check in using a side swipe check in feature from gizmo
You can’t get Text through your phones text messages alerts (because it is a closed alert system)- only through the gizmo app. Be sure to allow “push /Notification” from the gizmo app on your phone.
To add the picture- click on the child Icon “circle” thing and a pop up will ask were you want to add the picture from your gallery or take a photo or choose an Icon. To add child’s name click on “child” and a pop up will allowing you to change child’s name.

I recommend the Gizmo Gadget for a kid ages 8-12 (up to end of 6th grade) as an entry level kid’s phone, prior to a smart phone.

The cost is $149 with a 2 year contract (dbl check) You can add a line to your account. (Also I think you can use it with a different provider but don’t quote/hold me on that dbl check because since Verizon is my cell phone provider not an issue for us as a family ).

Final Thoughts on the Gizmo Gadget is a great product for a parent who does not want to give there child full access to the adult products. (aka the web and ablity to call text anyone) I love this product for where my daughter is at in her development. For me, she should not have access to everything on the internet yet. I love the fact the Gizmo Gadget has the safe guards built in. I know that when she moves into middle school in 7th grade, I will need to get her a smarter phone at the right time for us as a family. The Verizon Gizmo Gadget has the perfect amount of “smart” for this point in her journey as a child.

Arden Summer Camp Review

Arden Summer Camp Review: My daughter had the opportunity to go to Arden Theater’s Drama Summer camp. She loved this camp, I really can’t say enough hope much my daughter enjoyed every moment. She beyond excited to attend the 1st day, only to return at the end of the day bubbling about how awesome, amazing, and fun the day of drama was.

The campers days included a fun schedule of theater classes. The children had acting classes with included improvisation, script writing, dance, and movement. My daughter adored Sam the acting teacher. Stating unequivocally Sam was “the best teacher” she’s ever had even at school. She would chatter on about Sam for the 20+ minute drive home.

The campers learned different type of dances from the shuffle, 2 step and more. I was able to observe a dance class with the younger children(grades 1st-4th.) I love photographing the pure joy that came out of every child it the dance room. They had a real music teacher who sang the songs and played them on the piano instead of using a recorded song, it was like a rehearsal at a adult theater.

The theme of the week was Superheroes. Which we loved. The children participated in a craft class, they created their own superhero identity. My daughter designed her own superhero persona named “Luna Wolf” complete with emblem and costume design. She was so happy to show me the crafts she created at the end of the week.

Each Day a group children create a scene and preform the scene in front of their camp-mates. At the end of a groups performance the other children shared a positive comments about their peers performances. Which gave all the children to preform at a level the were comfortable with and get feedback in a safe place. By the end of the week, my daughter was gaining real drama skills. With these new found acting abilities, I could see them translates to creating a confidant public speaker. The Arden Staff does a wonderful job of nurture growth in a positive creative way. Bravo !

As a parent I think the Arden Drama camp is amazing. From the moment you walk in the building the helper escorts your child to a classroom, every member of the staff is warm and inviting. The staff shares the daily schedule with you in the form of a handout. I found the handout to be a great allowing for actually talking points with your child. My daughter could give me a full review over dinner of her action packed day of drama camp.

The Drama camp was held at the Hamilton Family Arts Center which is the Arden’s Drama School location right next store to the Theater. The building is new and spotless. Great big spaces that allow for movement.

As a parent, my biggest concern was having to park to get my child everyday (hassle of looking for a spot, parking fees.. ect). The Arden Staff turned those concerns in to a non-issue.

Drop Off: The front of the school was a loading zone, you can run in and drop your child off.

Pick up procedure for the end of the day of camp was great (I never parked.) End of the day pick up: The BEST, you assign a “password” for your child at the start of camp. Then end of each day the Arden has a “drive by pick up” at the main theater. A counselor comes out and asks the child’s name and the child’s password. Only the people on your pick up are on the list and must have the password to pick up your child. The Staff verifies password & adults name, then the Arden Staff Member walks your child outside, and puts them in your car. Simple and Efficient.. no parking needed.

Arden Summer Camp Review: It was a amazing experience. Any child will be lucky to attend this camp, it is a fun learning experience that allows a child to grow and develop in a interactive way. My daughter is already asking to go back next year.

Whiffer Sniffers Review We were recently provided Whiffer Sniffers for a review disclosure I did receive them for a review. What are the Whiffer Sniffers? Remember those great scratch and sniff stickers that you use to put on your notebooks in grade school. You would scratch them and smell the stickers, the little smell would get through the next math problem. Whiffer sniffers are smelly plush that smell just like those stickers from your childhood!! I know awesome.

What to Look for when Replacing Windows

Disclosure: I was asked to review Window Nations service, I received a window for my home opinions in this post are all my own.

Window Nation review: Window Nation is a window provider that sells and installs windows, and doors for your home, they service several states. When I was asked to review a window company I was apprehensive a salesman will come to my home. I was not looking for a high pressure sale. When the salesman Dave came I did not expect to my pleasure I received an education in windows, and how they can affect your home.

Window Nation is big on excellent quality, they have one of the top rated companies in the window industry with an A+ rating. Also they call for your feedback through out the process to make sure you were pleased with your service. They want to be the best and are open to suggestions. A company that listens.

You can loose the majority of heat through the windows in your home. Dave the Window Nations salesman showed me using a heat lamp and a heat reading sensor how the different types of glass pains and gas can affect the heat that escapes from your house. The window industry standard that is 36% heat loss, my original windows in my home the one I am looking to replace (single pain) window let a whopping 91% of heat loss. This large picture window in home just think my window was almost an entire wall, so think how draft my living-room is? The Window Nation Window heat loss is 23% amazing way lower than the industry standard. I was impressed to see the demonstration Dave brought- you could feel the heat through the glass on many of the samples, the Window Nation window you can not.

Put you hand on your window.. do you feel hot or cold how much heat/cool are your windows letting out?

The salesman Dave was super great he taught me in the last 10 years the window industry has really changed. 10 Years ago my husband I replaced all the windows except this large picture window, so I had some knowledge of what what I did not want.

The first thing Dave taught me was the fit of a windows and insulation is one the most important concern when purchasing a window. (My old windows my husband measured.) Because if you have a great window, does not fit and it is installed improperly you can loose all heat or air condition just leaks out the sides.

Window Nations windows are fitted to 1/8 of an inch, they sent a Window Nation Measure Tech who work for at the manufacture to measure the window so it fits perfect. The salesman is not the same person who measures so your window, they spend the time in having a person come dbl check the measurements, taken at the original sales call to ensure your replacement windows with be made to your exact home. I liked the idea measure twice make once.

Then the Window Nations installers use a flexible latex insulation (OSI) that creates a seal around the windows that grows, expands, but also shrinks when need with the home. The latex insulation is important because if you have the wrong foam that expands too much it can actually push out the window, is what both Dave the salesman and John the installer explained. It makes sense, your house is change with the whether so should the space around your windows. Better efficiency better quality.

Window Nation Window that makes it a premium window. I also learned about the windows and gases in the windows. Window Nations have a high level of Argon Gas but also a non visual silver lining, and a UV protect-ant so your furniture will not fade. The lower window frame slants down and away to make sure that water runs off. I think this is great I have a friend that said she bought windows and the did not slant away and had major issues with water pooling not a problem with Nation Window Windows.

Also the glides in the windows allow it to slide easier then others, they are also very durable and cast metal so they don’t break (trust me my other windows have issues with bad glides). Visually the Window Nation windows are lovely the grids in the windows are shaped they are between the layer, they are not just flat. The windows tilt out and the screens pop out for easy cleaning

So you can see the difference?

What to expect from Replacement Window Installation:

The called to confirm the time a day prior then the installer call ed prior to coming, He was at the begin of the time frame for the installation window. Window Nations installation team. John came to install the window with his assistant. Prior I was asked to more my items away from the window, I was not able to move my large desk and John worked with me.

The laded down plastic both in and outside the window. The removed my old 1951 window with easy and it was painted in. The design was the original window we had the house 2 side windows one large in the middle, I went the same layout with the replacement. They installed the windows cleaning as they went. John was in my home for 2 hours installing my window, installation, and then wrapping the window. It was profession done and nothing was out of place when they left.

The Result :

We have lived with our new Window Nation window for the month. Hello beautiful view ! Out my beautiful window, where I sit at my desk everyday enjoying my windows that open, and I can close them to keep out the heat. I am never driven out by the rays of the sun because the heat stays outside on a 90 degree day. The week in April the window was installed the the temperature dropped into the 30’s.

The first night my husband came home he from work said “WOW, I can feel the difference it is less drafty.”

It has made a huge difference in our electric bill and how much more we enjoy our home. I seriously want them to come back at some point and replace the windows I replaced 10 years ago. All I can say is amazing change in our home thanks to Window Nation, it is the prettiest and largest window in our home great job.

Review I received 4 flavors to try I like the Raspberry Chocolate chip. It had little chips of chocolate and it felt like such a treat. My 14 year old ate the others.. (I did try a taste) . His favorite was the Vanilla.

Into the Wood Movie Review Is it good for Kids?

Into the Wood Movie Review : We were invited to a screening of Into The Woods. I took my daughter and her best fiend both are 9 years old. The movie is based on the Musical Into the Woods. The movie is a 2+ hours and it is a musical, it is geared more towards adults and older kids. My daughter and her friend were a great age. I don’t think it would be appropriate for a younger child because there are implied deaths of characters.

Into the Wood Movie Review

The scenery is dark because it all takes place in a woods. But the scenery is beautiful and very creative.

The costumes are wonderful, I am a fan of the witches, played by Meryl Streep.

Story interweaves the characters and fairy tales story’s. The Music and singing is fantastic.

My Daughter loved the Princes song which was campy, sarcastic, and just plan fun.
